Saving up for Louis Vuitton

Hola! See, I got your attention there. No, I'm not going to buy Louis Vuitton (i'm sooo not into those kinds of bags) But yes, we're going to talk about saving up right here :)

As we all know, I used to be that kind of impulsive girl were I just buy make-up, clothes, shoes, travel, or whatevs whenever I wanted to. I used to have a serious problem handling money waaaaaay back. Can't blame me, I'm young then with my own money and got nothing to worry. But then, things went wrong. Family issues came in, and things started to rumble. I'm proud that I'm still alive and we all survived those hard times. Oh well, I know there's still some girls who are struggling, like what i used to be. So I thought of putting up this post.

Here are some of the first-hand tips which I've proven that works.LOLS.

1. Keep the essentials. Yes, we often hear this and yes, just saying this doesn't work, specially if Forever21 released their new clothes or M.A.C. got new collection in stores. STOP HOARDING GIRL! You don't need every single shade of make-up. I bet you'll not be able to use them all up till they expires (not unless you're a MUA or I don't know).

What I do: I'm not going to say to you to STOP buying make-up, just select those ones that you think you'll need. It'll also help if you were able to find your HG. If not, try to buy in travel or sample sizes. With this, you'll not be able to waste money buying full size especially if they're not your right shade or your skin will breakout using them.

2. Ditch your Magic Card. When I say Magic Card, we all know I mean credit cards. I know some people find this sooo helpful. But if your a typical girl, like I used to be,this will worn out and will cost you few hundred bucks at the end of the month (or whenever your due dates are).

When i still have my cc (I've got three then) I used to go to the derma and spa every month, impulsively buy make-ups, clothes, or shoes whenever I go to the mall, party all night every friday, travel, and do whatever I wanted to do. I know it's not good. I know it's not what it's supposed to be. But I've already learned my lesson and moved on.

What I do: I'll cut (literally and figuratively) my credit card! But, if you can't yet, leave your cc at home (specially every Friday!). Instead of using cc, try to use cash little by little. Take only the amount of cash you'll need everyday and try to spend within that amount only. If you can't take to not totally abandon your card at first, try to give it a routine. Like, only use cc for essentials like groceries and paying bills. Then, use cash for the rest of your purchases. Trust me, you'll get used to it.

3. How to train your dragon. I was in a mall last January looking for a hello kitty coin bank. But, I got this cutey girly dragon coinbank (with badass lashes!) instead and it's purple(!) nothing can go wrong! Plus, the SA told me that since it's the year of water dragon, it's lucky to have a dragon coinbank. Sooooooold!

Purpley with her badass lashes! mana sa mama nya. lol
What I do: I keep a coin purse in my bag. At the end of the day, all of my 5 and 10 peso coins and new peso bills (20, 50, 100, etc..) goes to Purpley's belly. :) It'll make you smile every time you'll feel that your coin bank is getting heavier. Sweet!

4. Breaking up. I find my excessive spending as a bad habit. And just like any bad habits, i had to break up with it. after doing the 3 things above for a while, i felt that my lifestyle changed. We all know that this needs a lot of discipline. But sadly, some of us don't know how to start.

Seriously, tip #1 is the hardest I've ever done for the sake of saving. No, I'm not exaggerating. It's hard to explain but I know some girls can relate and knows how hard it is. It took me months (gradually of course) to stop going to malls, shops, online stores or even going out with my friends (I know they'll understand. ahihihi) just to save up and pay my bills and debts.

(Btw, I already paid and closed my credit cards waaaaaaay back and been using cash only for my purchases. So happy to live debt free! :))
