Why do I wear make-up?

50% of my make-up stash

If you've known me for a long time, you also know my unending love for make-ups. It just started with one red lippie which my sister gave me and then it grew until I don't know where to put them anymore. Then I reached the peak.  I trimmed my stash. I gave them away to friends and relatives or threw some of them. It felt good.

Fave: Blushes

Few months ago, I've decided to trim down my stash and tried to keep only the HG's and the basics. So now, here are the survivors who made the cut! hahaha.

1. NYX cream blush in Golden - This is now the only cream blush that I keep. Though cream blushes makes your blush stay longer (when paired with powder ones), I find it time consuming. I only use this on classier days.
2. MAC mineralize blush in Nuance - My go to blush whenever I wanted a peachy color cheecks!
3. NYX mosaic powder  - To be honest, I haven't used this much nowadays. It doesn't work with me as a blush or even as an eyeshadow. Though I decided to keep it. Maybe next time, I'll figure how this one works best.
4. NYX blush in rose - My go to reddish pink blush! I use this most of the time whenever I do my friends make up.
5. Physicians Formula - My go to pinkish blush makes me happy.
6. Kirkland mineral blush - I love this blush! This is the most natural looking blush ever! Though since this is loose powder, it's not that very handy.

What are your fave blushes?!

Fave: for September

Hello October! :)

September was so good to me and I had happy memories during this month. Since it's already October, its now the right time to post this. The following are my fave for the month of September:

1. Fanny Serano gel liner in Black -  I finished a pot of this way back. But I found applying gel liner too time consuming compared to pencils. But few weeks ago, I found myself loving this again :)
2. Kirkland mineral loose eyeshadow in Coffee Brown - This is my everyday go to eyeshadow. Whenever I wanted to have a polished yet natural look, one swipe of this sets everything.
3. MAC lipglass in Viva Glam Cyndi - Love wearing this alone at night. Using this, the glossy reddish lips is good for night out even without eye makeup.
4. Etude house Color My Brows in no.2 - Finally got my own! For the past few months, this one is always OOS and since I got my hair color, no.2 is a match!
5. Revlon photo ready concealer in medium deep - love this one! this covers everything! from dark circles, blemishes, etc. Plus it looks good in photos!
6. Revlon super lustrous matte lipstick in Cocoa Craving  - my go to neutral lipstick. This is an uber fave.
7. Covergirl lip perfection in Fervor - the brownish reddish appeal of this lip color makes me happy. I dunno why. hahahha
8. L'oreal voluminous waterproof mascara in Black - uber fave mascara. which makes my sparse and thin lashes go wild tho I still love my fave mascara combo.
9. EOS lipbalm in strawberry shorbet (not in photo) - not your typical lip balm. Since I used EOS, I never went back to my old lip balms. and the scent of strawberry shorbet makes me want to eat it. hahahaha
10. Nyx matte lip cream in Stockholm (not in photo) - another go to neutral matte lipstick with pink undertone. love!

Tricks: your face powder as an eyeshadow

Fanny Serano face powder in chino and nyx eyeshadow base

I just discovered this and I can't wait to share it to you. It was when I was doing my make-up when I arrived at the office one day and figured that I forgot my eyeshadow. Don't get me wrong, I don't usually wear make-up at work (which I think is unnecessary since I only face the computer 9 hours a day..life of being an I.T. person :) ) but it was one of those days when you just want to look good to make you feel better.

I got my eyeshadow base but no eyeshadow. My solution? Use face powder. Lols.

Since I was eyeing for natural look (aka "no makeup" makeup), i figured instead of a neutral eyeshadow, why not use my face powder with neutral shade. It didn't failed me since it stayed up to 6 hours and I still got to wear my mascara and eyeliner. I like! :)

Share what is your latest eureka moments?! :)

Fave: Mascara combination

I was born with sparse and thin eyelashes. I know, I'm not quite lucky on that part. But thank goodness to those who invented mascara, I can have lovable lashes anytime I want.

On normal days, I would wear only my Clinique high impact mascara. Why?
  • It's brush is quite big which makes application a little easier.
  • It gives my eyelashes the much needed length.
  • Though it also gives volume to the eyelashes, it doesn't give the oomph volume that you dream.
  • The mascara itself isn't dry nor runny. Just the best normal mascara consistency.
The Maybelline magnum volume waterproof mascara on the other hand, is really great in giving me the length and volume that I want. Plus it's waterproof so I don't have to worry about the raccoon eyes when parties are getting hotter.

But if want more of those V and L, for classier occasions , I normally go for both. It's like having the "It-looks-like-false-eyelashes-but-it's-really-just-mascara-which-make-things-hotter" effect.Hahahaha.

What's your favorite mascara/mascara combination?

Challenge: 500 pesos make-up

So there's a popular tag videos going around the make-up world. It's the $20 makeup challenge. But since I'm not based in the US, I thought why not try the local version of this tag. When you convert $20 dollars in our local currency, it would be almost 1,000 pesos. I thought 1k is too pricey, so i came up with 500 pesos. Quite a challenge huh!

Style Packing: Make-up for Travel

For girls who's obsessed with their make-up babes, whenever they travel...they tend to bring a lot (if not everything) of their make-ups (which they haven't really used, most of the time) that really occupies a big unwanted space to their suitcase.

Regardless of the climate of the country that you're going to visit, the key words in packing make-up is dual purpose. Here are some ideal guides in packing your make-up for travel:

Foundation: Pick a foundation that is lost lasting. You want your foundation to stay-on the whole day specially if you're going to do a lot of strolling. It saves also some space since you need not to bring your primer anymore hence its long lasting effect. You can also build this up to cover more your blemishes in case you will not opt to bring a concealer. Revlon Colorstay Foundation is a good example of this kind.

Eyeshadow: Traveling is the perfect time to bring your palettes. If you have a lot of palettes, choosing one is quite easy. Make sure that your go to colors (neutral, bold, or brights) are available. Unless it's in hard or metal case, it is quite a risk to bring your 88, 120 or bigger color palettes. It takes a big space and have a tendency to break while it's in your suitcase. Urban Decay's Naked palette is a good catch since it already have storage for your liners and eyeshadow primer.

Mascara/Eyeliner: You don't want to have a raccoon-smudged eyes or re-apply in a middle of theme-park ride. Don't you? Waterproof mascara is the answer. My favorites are L'oreal voluminous and Revlon Colorstay Eye liner.

Lip and Cheek Tints: Here is the master of dual purpose. An instant blush and lip stain in one! Usually LCT's are made for long lasting effect to your cheeks and lips.

Brushes: I love to bring my Sigma Travel Kit brushes whenever I travel. I already have all the brushes I'll ever need just in case. It's in a hand roll that makes it much easier to fit into my purse.

Powdered blotting sheets: I was really impressed with this product. Imagine doing 2 things in one. It control your oils and gives you a matte finish also. Gatsby creates a great blotting sheet.

Extras:

Primer: If your long lasting foundation is not available or you can't afford to have one, don't worry. Primer will do its work to make your makeup stay all day long. Ellana Minerals have their own make-up primer line for only Php 280.00.

Concealer: You might be surprised that I didn't included concealers in the main list. Unless you have a clear skin already (i'm envious!) you may not need this anymore. But if you're like me who needs to conceal my blemishes, concealer is a handy guy. It can also work as a primer to your eye make up.

Creme blush: if you're going to bring powder blush (unless it's super pigmented), it usually lasts from 2 to 4 hours only. Cream blushes are good base for your powder blush to make it stay last longer.

So there. Few ideal tips to save your suitcase from space and making most of your make up.

Goodluck!
