So there's a popular tag videos going around the make-up world. It's the $20 makeup challenge. But since I'm not based in the US, I thought why not try the local version of this tag. When you convert $20 dollars in our local currency, it would be almost 1,000 pesos. I thought 1k is too pricey, so i came up with 500 pesos. Quite a challenge huh!
Out of nowhere (before i go and shop), i googled "500 pesos makeup challenge" and to my surprise, there's actually few people who's been doing this already. But there's an exception...that said amount will not include tools. only pure makeup. there's nothing wrong with that. But i decided to go with 500 for makeup and tools since it will be a real challenge for me. :)
Here's what i got:
E.L.F. All over cover stick, P129.75
I used this for my face and concealing my problem areas. Since i have no budget for sponges or brushes, i opted to get something blendable to apply with my fingers
Tip: If you don't have any tools available to use, try to go with cream foundation/concealer since it's easier to blend and control using your fingers instead of powder/liquid.
E.L.F. Brightening eye color in butternut, P129.75
Buying something for the eyes is kinda hard. This is where i spent most of my time with. Looking for the right eyeshadow palette. There's a lot of local eyeshadow palettes available, most of them in pack with free mascara or lip gloss. I had those back in college, and I'm not quite satisfied with it and gave them away. I thought, if i really wanted to squeeze in my budget, I'll get those. But i think, it's not quite practical for me to get them since I'll not be able to use them in the future. So i got this palette since i thought, I can just throw this to my purse that i can use for everyday. Plus, I really like the color combination and the dark ones are pretty pigmented (but still incomparable to other of course!) and it also has a free dual-ended applicators so i don't need to buy a brush for my eye makeup.
Tip: Be keen and don't be trapped with those packaged make-ups. I heard some of them might be expired or near to its expiry.
E.L.F. Regular & Waterproof Mascara, P129.75
This one is really a no-no. I can't even remember how i did to manage to use it despite of it's dryness. I really don't like this and my rant for it's dryness and being such a waste of money deserves a new post.
Tip: You can also your mascara for your brows. Just wipe the mascara over the a paper, removing all excess product in to it. Then brush super lightly over your brows. It will be a good brow gel.
Nichido Waterproof eyeliner, P60.00
I got this one because it's (1.) waterproof , (2.) it's cap got a brush, (3.) it's cheap. I think it is okay for compared to its price. Though this one is waterproof, it isn't smudgeproof and doesn't last long.
Tip: One time i also used this for my brows. it was okay. Good thing, i got one in brown so my brows are not so bold and loud.
Aido Lipstick in G, P50.00
For me, it's quite okay to buy cheap lip color. so i got the most inexpensive lipstick i saw. This also worked as a blush. :)
Tip: I know you guys all now that you can use your lipsticks as blush. Though the trick is, not to put too much and blend it perfectly using your fingers. You can also use it as a cream eyeshadow.
Result: I really had fun doing this challenge. My total cost is 499.25. I still have .75 change. I can say, I successfully finished the challenge.
P.S. No I didn't keep all of those items I bought. I gave them away to those I think can use them more often. I think I have enough cachiccas. :)
