Style Packing: Toiletries for travel
I just arrived from Hanoi and while I'm fighting some travel-hangover, I decided to post how I packed my toiletries to be added to my style packing series. I don't usually bring this less whenever I travel. I have waaay more than toiletries and skin care products I use at home but I decided to leave them and bring only the most important things from all the important things I have in my stash. So here are the factors on how I decided what to bring:
The Weather
When I went to Hanoi, Fall just started. We don't have Fall back at home but I thought it would be a bit chilly so I brought my thick moisturizer (Pond's Age Miracle Moisturizer, not in first photo) to avoid dry patches.
If you're going to travel to a place during summer, then it's a different story. Definitely, you would like to ditch your thick moisturizers then opt for a multi-purpose one with SPF of course. If ever, I would bring BB creams or tinted moisturizers. Minimize what you put on your face when it's hotter so your skin can breathe. The colder the weather the thicker your creams should be to bring back the moisture.
The Accommodation
I stayed at a hostel (read my review here) where they provided shampoo, shower gel, conditioners, and a like but I still brought my shower gel (Bath and Body Works Paris Amour) since I'm crazy for it's scent. After I shower, I just leave the bathroom open and let the scent roam around my room. Hah!
In packing your toiletries, keep also in consideration where you are planning to stay. If you're getting a private room in a hotel, for sure toiletries will be provided so you can leave your shampoo (and etc) behind not unless you're crazy for a particular scent like me. Lol. But if you're getting a dorm or guesthouses, you might wanna pack them and bring with you. Some dorms do provide one but some don't.
The Sachet
This is probably the easiest way to pack your toiletries, by sachet. You don't have to worry about the TSA standards plus it's not messy and as you use them, your pouch will be lighter. I decided to pack my shampoo in sachets. I can't change shampoo by this time since my hair and I are having some issues right now.
The 100 ML
For my facial cleanser, shampoo, lotion, deo, hair serum and moisturizer, I made sure that these will be in a containers not more than 100ml as I follow the regulations for airport baggage. I find these very convenient to bring since they are small and they can all fit into my purse.
Versatility
As much as possible, I want to bring versatile items whenever I travel which is applicable also to skin care. I bring with me petroleum jelly (not in photo) which works like miracle, as you all know. I can use it for removing make-up, moisturizer, lip balm, etc. Also I brought Cetaphil which can also use for removing make-up and as a tough cleanser. Keep in mind that, the more versatile they are, the lesser items you need to carry.
Overall
If you're going to travel long-term then that's a different story. You may want to leave your toiletries at home and buy one when you reach your destination so you won't limit them by 100ml only. The bottom line is, don't pack too much. Since they are toiletries, you can easily buy one with same brand or equivalent when you reach your destination. I'm sure, you won't use all of them while travelling.
Happy packing! :)
